A Day at the Beach with Stacey
While there are no photos of Aunt Stacey, she really was here with us! I should probably work on that. Dallin's sister flew into Portland for an interview out in Astoria. We got to see her for an hour or two Thursday night before she headed out early the next morning for her interview. On Saturday the kids and I met up with her at Seaside to spend the day playing. We started off in the arcade and then we had a delicious lunch. We heard rumors of a parade and started seeing people line the streets with their camping chairs.
Stacey and I both tried looking online to see what it was but fund nothing. We decided to stick it out and find out. We waited for longer that we should have but it finally started. We quickly realized it was a parade of all the rodeo queens and princesses. Each on rode on the top of a corvette, which the kids loved to see. On the way to the beach we saw a line of about 9 corvettes and the kids went crazy over the super cars. Now we knew why they were all going to the beach! But that was the whole parade, princesses on corvettes. Exciting! No wonder we couldn't find anything online. The kids liked it enough though.
After that we were definitely ready to dig in the sand. It was really great weather for the beach and we stayed for a long time.
We built sand castles, made mud puddles, splashed in the water, and enjoyed the sun.
Apparently sticking your tongue out by the shade tent is a thing.
Benton went way out in the water and stayed nice and warm in the wet suit.
Once everyone was finally exhausted we headed back home. The kids fell asleep on the drive, which made the drive nice and calm for me :) It was a great day at the beach, we are looking forward to going a couple more times this summer, and we were happy to be able to go with Aunt Stacey while she was here.
