Benton as of Now

I am a late in blogging about this, I normally do it right on his birthday. This year it is a little late but things don't change quite as quickly now as they did when he was littler so we are okay. I wanted to take a moment to write down all the things that Benton is doing and the things he loves. I really enjoy looking back on previous posts and remembering his little quirks and habits at different times in his life. It has only been two years, but how much changes in the first two years of life!

The older Benton gets the more new things he likes, but also the more he loves the things he has already liked. For example I've been saying forever that he loves outside. Well if it was possible he loves it even more now! Since baby Emmett has joined our family we haven't gone out as much as anyone would like. It is just too cold (and this March was WAY too rainy). So when we had nice (and actually warm) weather yesterday I knew we had to spend as much of the day outside as possible. Many of the things he loves are outside anyway.

Benton still loves doing anything that we are doing. That is why I just had to get this shovel when I saw it. He loves it. I planted a few flower bulbs yesterday and he was right there digging with me. He even planted the bulbs for me. I loved it.

He always says thank you. Even when you are the one who is supposed to say it. He will bring me something and say, "thank you mommy."

Benton is still very particular about some things. He received a motorcycle hot wheels toy for his birthday that has two motorcycles. You hook them in, wind it up and push a button to send them racing down a track. Somewhere along the way he decided that the red motorcycle must always be on the right. I don't know why, but if you try to switch their places he will correct you. Everything has a place, and it must be in it's place! I wish this included picking up his toys, somehow that got conveniently left out.

For his birthday he also received a tee ball set. At random times of the day he will just shout out, BAT! BALL! After a few days he figured out hot to hold the bat, swing it, and hit the ball. Some days he swings as a lefty and others a righty. I still can't tell what he is, he constants switches.

Some of his favorite songs to sing right now are Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star, Itsy Bitsy Spider, I am a Child of God, and Popcorn Popping. Every night after saying prayers we sing a few songs to him. He loves it and always asks for more songs. Maybe he is just delaying going to sleep?

Bubbles. He loves Bubbles. My sister got him this bubble gun and it is the best thing ever! You don't have to stand there blowing bubbles until you are ready to pass out anymore! The only problem is he will go through an entire bottle of bubbles at a time. But it makes him so happy.

Benton is 34 inches tall and weighs 27.5 pounds. He actually hasn't grown much in the past 6 months. I think a growth spurt must be coming...

Some of his favorite foods are cheese, broccoli, potatoes, pizza, beans, rice, pasta, casseroles, all fruit, and fruit snacks.

He is saying about a million words these days. He learns a few more each day. It is so fun communicating with him. When you have a little baby you wonder what they will grow up to be like and it is so fun getting to know them more and more.

Benton either listens, or he really doesn't. You would think there would be some in between kind of obeying but not with him. I can ask him to bring me something and he will right away. I can ask him to not be so loud and he gets louder. Don't hit, he hits more. Funny little boy.

All in all he is a pretty happy, energetic kid. He gets shy around new people but quickly warms up. He keeps us on our toes and we love him for it.
